April 18th Homecoming Celebration report:
I have never been to a more wonderful Church Service of any kind, than the Homecoming Service for Mama Geraldine. Seems like an odd thing to say about a "funeral service", doesnt it? That is because it really wasnt a "funeral service" at all. There was way too much praising God, and expressions of joy and worship, for a "funeral service". The Chapel probably holds 150-200 people...I bet there were 250-300 there. I got up to speak and there was a sea of people standing out in the
aisles and nearly all the way out the door. What a testimony to the impact of a person, who is totally committed to Jesus Christ as her Lord.
I tell you what, that is the way a child of God is SUPPOSED to go home. The mental imagery I had was that we were all on the edge of the ocean, waving goodbye to a person setting sail in a ship for a destination they had always wanted to sail for. I want my memorial service to be like that.
Here is a PDF file of part of the service bulletin.Notice the title of the service...HOMECOMING CELEBRATION
NOTE: In the order of service I am listed as GEORGE WILLIAMS :-)
