Last night we had line of strong thunderstorms move through the area. Being a pilot by trade I am always in awe of the furious nature of these phenomenon as they display the power of God’s creation. I laughingly told Angie it is like God reminding us that He allows us to stay in this world, but He is fully capable of taking us out anytime He wants to. The storms did not leave any damage behind in our area, but I know there was some up in Atlanta. I said a prayer of thanksgiving for our safety last night.
Well, the skies are the most beautiful shade of blue today and what an awesome reminder of how quickly God can turn bad into good and terrible storms into beauty. I am reminded of the song by the Electric Light Orchestra in 1977, “Mr. Blue Sky”. It went like this:
Sun is shinin' in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin' ev'rybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day
Don’t you know that it was "dark and stormy" on the day of the crucifixion of Jesus, but then three days later the sky probably looked like it does today; a beautiful clear bright blue sky! Additionally, it will look like this on the day of His second coming- I just know it. In the meantime, the “dark skies” of life may cause tears of sorrow and pain, but it wont be long before the “blue skies” of heaven will replace those tears with tears of great joy in the arms of Jesus our Lord.
The Psalmist caught the essence of the same thought in Psalm 30:
“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life:
weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Have a blessed day!
George
